About Me
Hi! I'm Athena Kaufman, Licensed Massage Therapist, intuitive energy worker, Certified Somatic Educator, feminine embodiment coach, and ceremonialist.
I am passionate about creating a sacred space where you feel safe enough to begin to unwind a lifetime's worth of tension.
My work is crafted to empower and inspire deep devotion to the body, the Earth, and the Divine, and the inextricable connection between all three.
The Story of Fox Rose Wellness
When dreaming up the name Fox Rose Wellness, a dear friend suggested to go on a meditative journey to the Spirit of my Business. I retreated to an off-grid cabin in the woods of Northern Michigan and prepared a sacred space to commune with the Divine. As soon as I sat down to begin my journey, a fox appeared and led me to a woman in white robes who was emanating a pure rose frequency. I felt this frequency descend down all around me until I was shrouded in this gorgeous rose essence, and I knew this woman was one of my unseen helpers in the spirit realm who would be present with me in my sessions.
As I integrated this experience the following day, the name Fox Rose Wellness came to me! I love the symbolism of both the fox and the rose, both powerful symbols of the Goddess.
Fox sees the unseen. She digs deep and roots out the Truth. She goes straight to the Core. She cuts away all that no longer serves. All that is not authentically YOU. With a sparkle in her eye. With a giggle erupting from her joyful, playful being. She is loving yet fierce. She is a guardian. Protector.
They say Rose has the highest frequency of any flower. Simultaneously raising us up to commune with the Divine while bringing us ever deeper into our own bodily experience. Connecting us with the Earth. With the dirt. With everything that makes us human. Rose is gentle. Soft. Warm. Yet, like Fox, Rose has an unapologetic fierceness to her frequency as well. Her thorns stand ready to protect the delicate softness of her flower. She doesn’t lead with her thorns, she leads with her essence, her fragrance. Drawing to her those who are in alignment with her frequency, those who have the capacity and readiness to receive her medicine.
Fox and Rose are Wise. Beautiful. Alluring. Powerful. Symbols of the Divine.
Emissaries of the Goddess.
My Story
I have been passionate about wellness and spirituality since my teenage years, apprenticing with an energy healer and becoming fully trained in reiki by age 22, and practicing reiki and training others while traveling from Michigan to California and all the way to Ecuador.
My journey with energy healing as a young adult led me to realize I needed to balance my work in the energetic realms with deep grounded roots in the physical realm, and I devoted the next several years of my life to learning about farming and natural building.
After my small farm closed in 2023, I felt the call to return to the healing arts with my new holistic perspective and pursued training in both somatics, a body based therapeutic modality, and therapeutic massage and bodywork. Mine is a blended approach integrating spirituality and energy work with a deep reverence for and listening to the wisdom of the body.
